TPU is a heat plasticized, solvent soluble polyurethane elastomer. Compared with MPU (mixed polyurethane elastomer) and CPU (cast polyurethane elastomer), there is no or little chemical crosslinking in the chemical structure, and the molecules are basically linear, but there is a certain physical crosslinking. It has high modulus, high strength, high elongation, and high elasticity. Excellent wear resistance, oil resistance, low temperature resistance, and aging resistance. General plastic processing methods can be used to produce various products. Waste materials can be recycled, and additives and fillers can be widely used to improve certain physical properties, processing properties, or reduce costs.
TPU can be divided into polyester type, polyether type, etc. according to the soft segment structure. Polyester type products have high mechanical properties and moderate cost due to the inclusion of ester groups with high cohesion, but have poor water resistance. The polyether type, due to its absence of ester groups and free placement of ether bonds in the molecule, exhibits good low-temperature flexibility and hydrolysis resistance, but poor mechanical strength and heat resistance. Polycaprolactone type is between polyester and polyether, with good comprehensive performance, but high price.
